| The Children On Sukamade Village |
Friends,
If you haven’t heard what and where
Sukamade is.
Sukamade is a village in the middle of
Meru Bethiri National Park, which is famous by its turtle and where the last Javanese tiger was seen. (Please look up in Java map it’s somewhere in the southeast). It takes about 5 hours from the ferry harbour to Bali and 6 hours from Jember.
... For traveling to Sukamade, we need to take 4 WD, since the road is terribly bumpy, with no asphalt. Rainy season is even worse, bumpy and muddy.
And, for those who worship technology, please be ready for no coverage area there. There is a tree where the villagers can find
Telkomsel signal. Only in that spot! The villagers have electricity at 6-10pm, and after that? Dark and quiet.
Earlier in 2010, government built Junior High School for facilitating
the students there. There are approximately 500 people in Sukamade area.
Therefore, Elementary and Junior High Schools are needed. However, the
facility is limited, even for teacher’s room; they “hijack” a classroom.

This year,
ViaVia got an idea to donate 1000 books for the school. Book
is the window of the world. We really hope that the children in a
remote area like Sukamade can also see the world through books.
We are going to donate fiction and non fiction books for students aged
7-16 years old. We assume that school books are provided by the
government.
We will drop books on December.
So, if you’re interested to donate some of your old books, we welcome all kinds of donations.
